167. Still Keeping Score?

There was a time
not long ago
I kept a mental list
of all I spent
and all I got
so nothing would be missed

Who paid for what?
how much is mine?
make sure it evens out
In time I learned
the tally's not
what this is all about

While keeping score
I missed the things
no ledger can record
like love and trust
and friendly hearts
that can't be saved or stored

So now I give
straight from the heart
no invoice, notes or pad
and find this life
and times with friends
the best I've ever had!

Commentary:
The more you love, the more you give
the less you will keep score.
The more you give, the more you get
you'll never end up poor!
